Sharing Helper Privacy Policy

Effective November 1, 2026

Scope

This policy applies to the MoonSay Protected Desktop Chrome extension and MoonSay Share Helper for macOS, operated by Osmanthus Technologies LLC. It is separate from the privacy policy for the MoonSay website, account and main application’s AI features.

Screen content and purpose

When you explicitly choose Share Desktop, the helper processes video frames from the display you select, excluding MoonSay-owned windows. Visible content can include websites, documents, messages, names or other personal, sensitive or confidential information. Screen frames are used solely to provide the screen share you requested. The companion does not separately extract identities, passwords, health or financial records, browsing history, or keystroke logs.

Where information goes

Frames pass locally from the macOS helper to Chrome through Native Messaging, are decoded locally and supplied to Google Meet. Google Meet transmits the screen share to meeting participants through its meeting service. The companion does not upload frames to MoonSay servers. Google Meet and meeting participants may handle or record shared content under their own settings, rules and policies.

Permissions and consent

The extension runs on meet.google.com and uses nativeMessaging to communicate with its helper. The helper requires macOS Screen Recording permission. You select a display and explicitly start each share. Other websites are not injected or read by the extension. The companion does not capture microphone or system audio; audio handled by Google Meet is separate.

Retention and use limits

The companion uses transient in-memory video buffers during sharing. It does not save screen recordings, send advertising analytics, sell user data or use screen content for advertising, profiling, AI model training, creditworthiness or lending. Data is used and transferred only as necessary for this disclosed screen-sharing purpose, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Your controls and limits

You can stop sharing using Google Meet, the extension popup or the configured keyboard shortcut, and revoke the helper’s Screen Recording permission in macOS. Closing the meeting tab or MoonSay ends the protected stream. Only MoonSay-owned windows are excluded; other applications, notifications and system dialogs may remain visible. Use assistance and screen sharing only where allowed by the meeting organizer and applicable rules.

Support and related services

Contact support@moonsay.net for privacy questions. If you email us, we receive your message and contact details to respond. Do not include confidential screen content unless needed for support. Visits to this download/privacy website are subject to the MoonSay service privacy policy, including ordinary website request information. The extension itself has no separate account or analytics service.
