Frequently Asked Questions

Using MoonSay

What does MoonSay help me do?

MoonSay combines live transcripts, contextual AI answers, screen text analysis and saved session history for interview preparation, practice, meetings and permitted real-time assistance.

Which platforms are available?

Visit Downloads for the current macOS and Windows installers and release availability.

How do I get started?

Download MoonSay, sign in, and choose Interview or Meeting mode. Check your audio inputs and permissions, then select Listen to start the live transcript. You can import relevant documents to give AI answers more context.

What is the difference between Quick AI and Think AI?

Quick AI is intended for faster responses. Think AI is intended for questions that benefit from more reasoning. A Think AI response is not necessarily longer: response length depends on the question, available context and the model’s answer.

Can I ask an AI question without starting Listen?

Yes. Type your question in the conversation window to request an AI answer. Listen is for capturing live speech; it does not need to be running for a typed question. AI requests use Credits.

Can I save my CV, job description and background documents?

Yes. Import your CV, job description (JD) or Background documents in the app. MoonSay saves the extracted text for later use, so you do not need to import the same material before every session. Supported documents include readable PDFs and text files.

Importing and saving these documents locally does not itself use AI Credits. Cloud AI answers that use their contents do use Credits.

How are my documents and audio used?

Imported document text is saved in the app and can provide context for AI answers. When you request an AI answer, relevant text may be sent to cloud AI services. The current English captioning model runs on your device; AI answers use online services.

Only import or share content you are allowed to use. If you have a question about how information is handled, ask us below.

Is the demo a recording of the app?

The walkthrough uses MoonSay’s native interface with staged example conversations to demonstrate the workflow.

How do I use Stealth while sharing my screen?

Setup depends on your meeting app. Follow our Stealth for Screen Sharing guide for Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet in Chrome.

Audio & Transcripts

Why does my transcript sometimes look incorrect?

Real-time transcription is technically demanding. Background noise, overlapping voices, accents, names and specialist terms can lead to missing or incorrect words—even with mature speech-recognition technology.

MoonSay uses established speech-recognition technology, and we continue to improve the experience. For clearer results, check your audio input, reduce background noise, use headphones to limit echo, and speak clearly. The current on-device captioning model is designed for English. Review important details rather than treating a live transcript as a perfect record.

Why are speakers sometimes labeled incorrectly?

Distinguishing speakers is challenging, especially when people have similar voices, speak briefly, or talk over one another. Background noise, microphone quality, and changes in volume or speaking distance can also make the same person sound different.

We continually work to improve speaker recognition, but it isn’t always exact. Occasionally, different people may share a speaker label, or the same person may appear under more than one label. Labels such as “Speaker 1” and “Speaker 2” are automatic estimates, not confirmed identities.

For better results, use clear audio, reduce background noise where possible, and avoid overlapping speech.

How do I hide my own transcript in Interview mode?

You have two options:

  1. Turn off the microphone button at the top of the conversation window to stop MoonSay from capturing your microphone. This does not mute your microphone in your meeting app.
  2. Stop Listen, open Settings → Interview → Interviewee Voice, choose Record My Voice, then Finish & Save. Enable Hide my transcript in Interview mode. MoonSay uses your saved voice profile to filter your speech from the Interview transcript.

Voice recognition may occasionally miss a match, especially when your audio setup or speaking conditions change.

Why is there an Answer This button after my own speech?

Answer This lets you request an answer from a transcript paragraph, including your own speech. It provides a manual way to ask for help when a question was not automatically recognized or was assigned to the wrong speaker.

A useful tip: if a question is missing from the transcript, repeat it aloud. Once it appears in your transcript, select Answer This. Your microphone must be enabled and your own transcript must be visible for this to work.

Why can MoonSay still hear audio when my speakers are muted?

MoonSay receives audio from two sources:

  • Audio playing in apps on your computer, such as a meeting, browser video, or media player. MoonSay captures this through the computer’s internal audio stream. Muting your speakers stops you from hearing it, but MoonSay can still receive it.
  • Sound from outside your computer, such as your voice or people speaking nearby. MoonSay needs your microphone to capture this. Turn on the microphone in MoonSay’s status bar to include these sounds.
Why can’t I hear or see the other person’s transcript?

Check that Listen is running, the meeting audio control is enabled, and the correct audio devices are selected. On macOS, review MoonSay’s Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording permissions in System Settings. If you recently changed a permission or audio device, stop and restart Listen.

MoonSay can capture microphone and system audio alongside apps such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Results depend on your permissions and audio routing.

What should I do if a question is split into several paragraphs?

You can select Answer This on the last paragraph. MoonSay uses earlier transcript from the same Listen session as context, not just the paragraph you click. The selected paragraph is the question to answer, and earlier context can help the AI understand what it refers to.

This does not guarantee that every part of a longer question will be answered. Separate requests in earlier paragraphs may be missed, and missing transcript or unavailable context can affect the answer. To make all requirements explicit, type the complete question in the conversation window.

Why does the Answer Again button appear after an answer?

If you selected Answer This before the interviewer finished, more details may appear in the question card afterward. Select Answer Again to answer the updated, complete question.

You can also use it if you are not satisfied with the previous answer or would like another explanation with more useful detail. Your existing answer stays visible until a new answer is ready to replace it.

AI Credits, plans & billing

What uses AI Credits?

Cloud AI requests use Credits, including automatic answers, Answer This, typed AI questions and screen-based AI requests. A request can use Credits even when you have not started Listen. Local transcription and importing or saving CV, JD and Background documents do not themselves use cloud AI Credits. Requesting a cloud AI answer based on those documents does.

Check My Account → Credits & Usage for your account balance and recorded usage.

What happens when my AI Credits run out?

AI requests are blocked when your available Credits reach zero. Add Credits or wait for your plan’s next credit renewal to use AI again. Starting Listen with less than 10% of your allowance remaining shows a low-credit warning.

The estimated number of sessions is a guide, not a guaranteed count. Usage depends on session length and AI requests.

Do Credits roll over to the next billing cycle?

Plan Credits renew monthly, including when you pay for several months at once. Added Credits are valid for the current credit cycle and expire when it ends. Review your current balance and renewal dates in My Account.

Does my subscription renew automatically?

Yes. Paid subscriptions renew at the billing interval you select unless you cancel renewal. A multi-month plan charges the total for that period, not just the displayed monthly equivalent. Checkout shows the amount due before you subscribe.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Open My Account → Plan & Subscription to review your plan and renewal settings. Use the available subscription or billing management option to manage renewal. If your access was granted manually, there may be no recurring subscription to cancel.

If the option you need is missing, send us a message below and choose Payment & Billing.

Why do I see Link or a saved card at checkout?

Stripe Checkout may recognize your Link account and show a payment method you previously saved there. A saved card does not mean a new payment has been made. Review the total and subscription details before confirming.

You can use Pay without Link when that option is shown.

Where can I find my payments and invoices?

Open My Account → Billing to review available payment records and billing options. For a payment question, include the date and invoice reference in your message. Do not send full card numbers, security codes or passwords.
